Happy first day of Summer!! This is my season, I love the long, hot days, all the sunshine, warm nights with the occasional severe thunderstorm, and all the time I get to spend outside. Let me tell you though, here in North Texas, summer is coming in hot, literally. We have already hit triple digits as far as the heat index is concerned. I don’t mean a measly (for The Lone Star State) 101 either; yesterday *felt* like a sweltering 108, today we’re at a high of 95 with it feeling like 106. I have never cared about what the temp is in actuality as much as I care about what it feels like, and right now it feels like I want to lounge under some shade at the pool.
All of us here at Echo, my summer loving self included, are lugging around a little emotional baggage when the idea of the remaining summer months comes up. It’s only June, but feeling like August, meaning we are expecting surface of the sun temps two months from now. Sure, the sun is nice, don’t get me wrong, like I said, this is my season, but 108 in June is a little much even for me. It has definitely made me want to crank my thermostat down quite a bit, but I’m resisting the urge and am doing my best to use these helpful tips to keep me cool. The only one in that list that I am skeptical of is number 5, sleeping on top of damp sheets just sounds awful.
